I began my journey with photography with 35mm film and have enjoyed experiencing the changes in photographic technology. Over time, I studied, took classes, and improved my knowledge, skills and my eye. My current medium is high resolution digital photography taken specifically for printing large scale images on satin fabric using dye sublimation. After printing, the fabric is cut and mounted to custom stretcher frames, all made in my studio. I have always enjoyed a passion for fabric and printing on satin fabric brings a pleasing depth, color, and light to the prints. In 2014 I began participation in juried Fine Art shows and Exhibitions by exhibiting limited edition prints. My husband and I enjoy outdoor experiences and traveling so of course I'm always prepared to take a photograph. Some of my favorite subjects are architectural features, live oak trees, birds, and Southern landscapes. I print all sizes of work, but most recently have enjoyed printing larger pieces in triptych format.
Photographs on Satin Fabric
All photographs shown on TrotterArts.com have been taken by Lynne and printed with dye-sublimation on satin fabric. Dye-sublimation printing yields beautiful and permanent colors that are embedded in the satin rather than printed on the surface. These images won’t fade or crack because the dye impregnates the fabric. I chose this process and material for my photographs as it offers bright, deep color transitions and a light sheen on the finish with no glare. The gallery wrapped final product can then be displayed with or without additional framing. Some of the prints are accented with frames made of recycled lumber and are mounted with the print on top so all sides of the print are highlighted.
